This stimulating and fun day has something for all the family. This event will take place at Southampton University's Highfield Campus where there will be zones for you to visit throughout the day Space Zone - Stars, galaxies and planets in full 3D. Transport Zone – Pilot the Airbus A380 super jet in the flight simulator; sail with our yacht wind tunnel and Virtual Trafalgar sailing activity. Life Zone – Explore real organs and how they work, compare wrinkles on our life models, discover how the human body changes throughout your lifetime - inside and out. Other activities include: Get worms drunk; put your head in a hippopotamus' mouth; watch desert locusts in action and look inside glowing brains. Record your own heartbeat and take away a print out. Explore the model torso and use a computer animation to understand how your heart works. Light Zone – Understand how light and laser technology is revolutionising the world we live in and experience the ‘Lightwave’. Chemistry Zone - Make slime and silly putty, or bubbles that bounce in mid-air. Find out more about some of the challenges and recent advances in developing new fuel types, sustainable energy sources and new technologies at the heart of these global issues. Technology Zone – Nowadays, technology is about interacting with people. From developing the web science of on-line communities to the lab-on-a-chip for manipulating single living cells, we are developing new systems that will directly benefit individuals. In the technology zone you can build your own electronic device, program your own game or animation, and set our robots off in search of "food". Construction Zone - Visit the construction zone to find out how bridges stay up and why you can lift heavy weights with just your finger! Construct your own bridge and see what weight it can take!
