| Fairisle Juniors beat Oakwood to the title by just 4 runs. The afternoon of 22nd June saw Oakwood juniors, Shirley Warren Primary and Fairisle Juniors battling it out in the Lordshill School Cluster Cricket Tournament arranged and organised by Oasis Academy Lord’s Hill. Over 6 – 8 weeks in May and June the four schools Fairisle Juniors, Shirley Warren Primary, Oakwood Juniors and Sinclair Primary were involved in cricket training, organised by Oasis Academy Lord’s Hill, culminating in an Inter-School Grand Tournament at Fairisle Junior School on June 22nd. 80 pupils from across the schools took part in this project that aimed to develop young cricket talent and allow pupils the opportunity to experience cricket, some for the first time. The project was sponsored by the Academy using the Testlands Multisport Coaching team. Peter Howard, Head of Fairisle Junior School commented ”It was fantastic to see such great sportmanship and all participants having such fun learning whilst learning new skills. As a school we've really enjoyed the opportunity to be involved in such an exciting programme of activities with Oasis Academy Lord's Hill this summer”. |
