| Sunday 4th July saw the Academy at Green Lane open to visitors for the first Oasis Academy Lord’s Hill Community Fun Day. The sun wasn’t shining all day but still well over 1,000 people joined academy staff and pupils to ensure a day of fun. The Cirque Normandie Big Top made the perfect performance hall for displays of ‘Respect Drumming’ Cheerleading, Judo, Body Popping Dance and Shoringi Kempo. Other local dancers performed in line dance and wheelchair dancing in the Dining Room. Young footballers had the opportunity to show their skills in a specially organised team event, and other youngsters burnt off their excess energy on bouncy inflatables. Local community groups demonstrated their skills and interests and a car boot sale tempted in others. The Academy was proud to exhibit a wonderful display of student and staff art. And if all that wasn’t enough, the’ Down to Earth’ Academy and Community Farm was also open for visitors. |
