Academy new build gets planning thumbs up

Oasis Academy Lord's Hill was opened in September 2008 following a reorganisation of education in the city and is currently based at a site in Fairisle Road with an Annex at Green Lane.  The plans will see a new build established on the Five Acres site to open in September 2012.

Responding to news of the planning panel's decision, Cllr Paul Holmes, head of Children’s Services, said: “This is more good news for education in Southampton. The new academy building will help us to deliver the best possible learning experience for the city’s young people.

“We’ve carried out an extensive consultation and the feedback from that has been used to inform the plans that were approved today.

The Academy is delighted to hear that the plans have been approved and that building work will begin in the near future. Oasis Academy Lord's Hill remain fully committed to being an Academy that exists through, and for, the local community.
