Teaching & Learning at Oasis Academy Lord's Hill

Students at Oasis Academy Lord’s Hill study all the National Curriculum core subjects. As an independent school we employ innovative approaches to Teaching and Learning.

Our goal is to create an environment where students 'want' to learn rather than 'have' to learn. State of the art computing facilities enhance teaching in the classroom and facilitate independent learning by students in Academy study areas.

Personalised Teaching and Learning plans include continued monitoring and analysis of the educational needs of young people which in turn leads to increased achievement; and positive inclusion of children with disabilities and learning difficulties.

Inclusion

Oasis Academy Lord's Hill ensures the positive inclusion of children with learning difficulties.

The Academy has an inclusive approach to students with physical disabilities. We also focus on those students who are gifted and talented and strive to match this with appropriate teaching levels.

ICT (information communication technology) is used to support all students, including those with learning difficulties, in accessing the curriculum.

Achievement through Learning

The Academy will develop with keen regard to the rapidly changing diversity of cultures and needs within Southampton both now and in the future. By listening to the voices of young people, staff and families we can ensure that provision is appropriate.

An expectation of high standards in academic and vocational studies guides our Academies programme and adds value to the achievement, attainment and skills of students in numeracy, literacy and other core areas. We are committed to improving the life-chances of all young people, refusing to accept that some should be excluded from the main curriculum and opportunities accessed by the wider Academy population. Raising the quality of teaching and learning to that of the best will be a high priority, which will encompass a clear and focused agenda of assessment for learning.

Commitment to Young People

The Academy will create a learning environment where the skills, abilities and characters of individual students are developed and enhanced, recognising that not only is every child unique, but also that every child matters.

Our role is to develop a broad and balanced curriculum that enables students to enjoy their learning, encourages and widens their aspirations, and enhances their opportunities to succeed.

The promotion of positive attitudes, mutual respect and appreciation of citizenship amongst those within the Academy (community) and beyond into the local community is of paramount importance to instil in each student the value of social responsibility.

Aye mate! And welcome to limbo! Problem: I have no idea what page you're trying to work on. You need to define a body ID in the template, then turn on the necessary rows and columns in layout.css. Arrrrgh!
