The Learning Environment
Oasis Academy Lord’s Hill will make use of the two existing sites at least until the planning of the new building has progressed to a significant stage.
This will give the advantage of having a generous supply of teaching spaces to accommodate the amalgamation of the two predecessor schools, without the need for temporary classroom accommodation.
The Academy will be divided into Years 7 and 8 (KS3) at Green Lane and Years 9, 10 and 11 (KS4) at Fairisle Road.
This will mean that both staff and resources can be targeted to the relevant Key Stage more effectively to support learning. Students will be provided with a site that is dedicated to providing appropriate study facilities. This will give them a supportive, focused environment helping them reach their full potential. We wish to make best use of the existing sites whilst providing a secure and safe environment. There are key imperatives which will be observed;
- Providing Year 11 students with maximum access to resources
- Minimising disruption but providing security for Years 7 and 8
- Redesigning the curriculum in a 21st Century model by developing a Learning Zone approach.
We are committed to minimising staff movement between sites during the working day. However, we will encourage movement where a degree of cross-fertilisation is required to build consistency of practice and a common ethos.
