Exceptional Education at the Heart of the Community

Student Voice

Throughout their career at Academy students are given opportunities to say what they think about their school environment and their education.  More than this, they are actively encouraged to develop mature leadership skills so that they can speak on behalf of one another.

Student Voice is an opportunity for our students to gain confidence and develop leadership skills. It is an opportunity for them to debate, to agree, and to challenge. It is an opportunity to make friends and share ideas. Students know their voice is being heard, their opinion is being listened to and they know their contributions will help to make our Academy the best it can be.

How does it work?

The Year 11 Prefects meet once a week. It is led by our Head Girl and Head Boy, with the support of the Year 11 Director of Progress. The leadership group discuss issues and ideas - either suggested from their peers in tutor time, younger students or the Academy leadership team. Topics discussed include supporting local charities or global communities, food in the canteen or rewards and trips.
