Moving from primary to secondary school can be both an exciting but daunting time for both parents and students alike. Here at Oasis Academy Lord’s Hill we recognise what a big step it is and therefore are committed to delivering a robust transition programme that aims to give all our students the smoothest start possible.
We are a secondary school who pride ourselves on the strength of our relationships with students and their parents. We are proud of these relationships, which are caring and supportive and enable us to know, value and understand every single student extremely well. Our vision is to ensure that every student is equipped with the skills, abilities and qualifications to pursue a fulfilling career and become respectful, responsible global citizens. To do this we focus on developing positive character traits of all our young people using the Oasis 9 habits. We also focus on their academic skills providing a range of enrichment opportunities to help them explore and develop themselves, understanding of the world around them and their contribution to our community.
We have a dedicated Transition Team who will work with and support your child throughout the transition into secondary school.
Our transition team work with staff in each of our primary schools to obtain as much information as possible about the children who will be joining us in September, enabling us to know each student well before they arrive. This means we understand the social, emotional, cultural and learning needs of every student and can plan a rich and varied programme of experiences, which will ensure they succeed. Alongside this we host a number of transition days/induction programme at the end of the summer term in Year 6. The days are designed to ensure parents and children feel comfortable and confident about the move to secondary school and are excited about joining us.
