Academy Leadership

Academy Student Leadership

At Lord’s Hill we believe that students must have the opportunity to actively participate in academy life by taking up roles and responsibilities throughout the academic year, in order to contribute to both whole school improvement and to take ownership of their own future. This is key to a deeper student engagement and enables our students to participate in the sort of leadership opportunities which prepare them for life in modern democratic Britain and a global society. A society where we value equal opportunities and one in which a variety of beliefs and opinions are heard.

Through a variety of student led focus groups, students pro-actively embrace the opportunity to build resilience and develop their own character within an inclusive environment. Lord’s Hill student role models promote a culture of positive behaviour school wide. The end goal is inspiring confident individuals ready to take on challenges, using real-world skills, that will enable them to flourish in our society.

Academy Leadership groups include:

Student Council

The Student Council group is the most Senior Group of students that meet regularly with the Senior Staff Leader for Student Voice along with any visitors that come into the academy. The group consists of the Head Boy and Girl from the Year 11 Prefect team, along with a small group of students in each year group that have been selected to ensure that the diverse range of views, beliefs and cultures within the academy are all represented.

Tutor Representatives

Every tutor group in Years 7 to 10 has a nominated Tutor Representative that is democratically elected in by their fellow tutees following a short presentation that is delivered by students wishing to fulfil the role at the start of the year. These students then meet with the Senior Staff Lead for Student Voice twice a half-term with the views then being shared with the whole Staff Senior Leadership Team as part of the continuous cycle of school improvement. Between meetings, there is time in tutor time for all students across the academy for all students to share their views with the Tutor Representative, who can then feedback in the next cycle of meetings.

Year 11 Prefects

AT the end of Year 10 students apply for the role of a Year 11 Prefect. Interviews are conducted with the Academy Leadership Team, including their Head of Year. Once appointed, Year 11 Prefects support staff with duties at breaks and lunch, meet regularly to discuss school progress and improvement, a selected group form a Prom panel as well as supporting with other whole-school events such as fundraising days or Culture Days.

Anti-bullying ambassadors

We have a small group of students that were selected to take on the role of anti-bullying ambassadors. Their role focuses on raising awareness of how to challenge any bullying in school and empowering young people to become leaders in fostering kindness, respect, and inclusion.
