On Tuesday, 25th February we welcomed Lizanne and Reuben from ZoieLogic Dance Theatre to the academy. The nationally recognised dance company specialise in engaging boys to dance and are passionate about delivering high quality, challenging yet achievable dance experiences.
The 48 boys invited to take part were divided into two groups - one experiencing the workshop in the morning and the other in the afternoon.
The students began with a warm up, followed by the group learning a series of dance motifs, which would be incorporated into the final piece at the end of the session. The second part of workshop involved the boys working with the team on a variety of improvisation tasks linking to words, phrases, people and places.
For the afternoon session we welcomed back former student Ollie Webb. Ollie left the academy at the end on last year to go on and study performing arts at Richard Taunton Sixth Form College, and like Reuben, is also a member of the ZoieLogic all male youth company, FuzzyLogic.
"This is an excellent opportunity for me to be invited back to the school and get involved. It was great to work with some younger students and gain some work experience in teaching dance."
"I've had some amazing experiences performing with 'Fuzzy' and it's brilliant to work with a great group of like-minded boys."
The students were extremely focused and developed some really interesting ideas, which they will continue to work on with our academy dance teacher, Mrs Morley.
A huge thank you to the team for join us on the day and inspiring our boys.
